Farida Mwinami
I am Farida Mwinami, the only girl in a family of four children. I am currently a third-year student studying Veterinary Medicine at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). Being the only girl at home is a blessing, but it also means that all the domestic chores have been mine since childhood. One of the challenges that I faced in my life is Our family's low income which made me even start a small business after completing my secondary education to sustain our needs. Through it, I’ve learned that life is full of struggles and challenges.
The most difficult experience in my life was when my father suddenly sold our house without involving my mother or any other family member. This was especially stressful for my mother. However, I am proud that I was able to support and advise her during this tough time. Eventually, my father built a small house for us, and my mother regained her normal condition.
Academically, I’ve worked hard to reach this point and I am thankful for the support from WEF in my education. My biggest dream is to serve society especially in health aspects related to animals and human well-being. I believe that practical knowledge is essential, and many people in my village and country need skilled Veterinary Doctors and I want to be one of them.
Once I complete my studies, I want to contribute by saving animals’ lives. Animals play a crucial role in human life, and their well-being is closely connected to ours. By caring for animals, we can ultimately save humans too. I also wish to change the position of women, recognizing their significant contributions to our country and the world.
