Goodluck Ayo
I am currently a first-year student at the Institute of Finance Management. I would like to share my personal story, including the challenges I have faced, the lessons I have learned, and the experiences that have shaped my journey.
One of the significant challenges I encountered was during my advanced-level studies in 2022. When I first arrived at school, I became ill, which made the already demanding school environment even more difficult. I was also unfamiliar with the school and did not know anyone well, which left me without much support. This situation forced me to learn how to be independent and self-reliant. I had to figure out how to seek help when needed and navigate through challenges confidently. It was a tough experience, but it taught me valuable lessons in self-sufficiency and resilience. Another important experience in my life was when I received recognition for my hard work and attentiveness in both my academic and social life. Being congratulated for my efforts motivated me to continue working hard and being attentive to everything I do. It made me more committed to improving myself and striving for success. I was very thankful for this recognition, and it further fueled my determination to excel in my studies.
A key realization in my life came during my O-level education when I understood the importance of self-dependence. As I grew older, I realized that I had to take responsibility for my actions and decisions. It was during this time that I learned the significance of discipline, self-control, and the ability to distinguish between what is right and wrong. This understanding helped me stay focused on my goals and work harder to achieve them. Although I did not hold a formal leadership position in school, I took on leadership roles through my actions and attitudes. I remained loyal, cooperative, and respectful towards both teachers and fellow students. I encouraged others to respect their leaders and work hard in all aspects of their lives. I believe leadership is not just about holding a title, but about setting a positive example and inspiring others through one’s actions. In addition to my role in school, I also contributed to the community by promoting respect, discipline, and hard work among my peers. I encouraged them to stay focused on their education and personal growth, which created a positive impact on those around me.
