Faina Mbwaga
I am third born in the family of six children. I have two sisters and three brothers but I am the first child in my family to study at university level. Two of the younger ones are still in school, but the rest stopped after to standard seven due to the poverty in our family background. I thank WEF’s School Fund because it was given me the support to reach this level of education.
The following are difficult experiences that I had early in my life:
(1) Lack of school requirements when I started O level school due to my family being poor,
(2) Death of my parents within one year. That brought a difficult life to our family, especially to my brothers and sisters. For example, one of my sisters failed to complete even her primary education due to lack of parents.
The most difficult experience in my life was to see my young brothers and sisters living difficult lives. At that time I was young also, so there was not any way I could help them. From that experience I learned to struggle more in studies because I believe that only education can be our parents when they have already died.
I am thankful to be in this level of education. Since I started to receive government loans for higher education, I have been trying to my level best to provide support to my younger brothers and sisters in order to help them to fulfill their dreams.
The most memorable thing in my life was when I finished my O level and A level education and reached university. I hope my dreams will become true soon.
My happiest thing in life is to see orphans and people living in poor families being given support in order to fulfill their dreams.
In my life, I want to build a big, advanced laboratory in order to help the community check on various diseases. I am going to fulfill my dreams in approximately four years. I tried to find data on how you can open your own laboratory. I have communicated with Anudha Company in Tanzania, a company that sells laboratory equipment, to find out the capital needed to start out.
Right now I practice small scale agriculture. I have three pigs and two chickens as a starting point in fulfilling my dreams.
It is my hope that my family, community and WEF will benefit from my dreams, I am already a member of Natalia foundation (NF), a charitable organization to help and facilitate the betterment of vulnerable, orphaned children and other special groups. For my family, I am the one who is responsible for all school requirements for my younger brothers and sisters, especially the sister who started in form one last January. After I reached my goals, it is my hope to support people who are faced with various challenges that hinder them from reaching their dreams.
If I had the power, I would make sure to educate people to be aware of the advantages of helping others, especially orphans and poor people. Many people tend to care about themselves and not about others. It can cause them to engage in bad behaviors that are caused mostly by difficult life conditions. I want my country to be full of peace and love among people.
