Dear Madam Judy,
I hope you are well. Following my recent graduation, I wanted to share an exciting update on my continued pursuit of knowledge and skill development. I am currently enrolled at the Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT), where I am taking a short course in Mobile Engineering (Repair and Maintenance).
This course is particularly valuable as it provides a hands-on, practical education covering both the software and hardware aspects of mobile devices. I believe this is a crucial step in my plan to become self-employed.
The decision to pursue this path is strategic and deeply connected to the lessons learned during my degree. This skill set represents one of the greatest opportunities to directly address societal needs through technology. In our community, and across Tanzania, mobile phones are essential tools for communication, business, education, and accessing services. However, when they malfunction, access to affordable and reliable repair services can be a significant challenge.
By acquiring these skills, I aim to:
1. Become Self-Sufficient: Create a sustainable livelihood for myself by establishing a small business, turning technical skill into economic opportunity.
2. Solve a Critical Need: Provide a vital service to my community by helping people repair their devices affordably, thus bridging a digital divide and reducing electronic waste.
3. Leverage My Foundation:Combine the theoretical knowledge from my degree in computing with this practical, hardware-focused expertise, offering a more comprehensive service.
This venture is more than just a business idea; it is a practical application of technology to empower individuals and support the community, all while building a career for myself. I see it as a perfect synergy between earning a living and fulfilling a societal need.
Thank you once again for your unwavering support and guidance throughout my university studies. The confidence and knowledge I gained have given me the foundation to confidently pursue this next step.
Yours respectfully,
Michael Issa Amanzi
