One of the biggest obstacles I faced in my life was the struggle to pay school fees and meet other requirements, such as buying school uniforms. Despite these challenges, I never gave up, and by the grace of God, I was introduced to the School Fund, which supported me and allowed me to continue my studies. The lesson I learned from this experience is that I should never give up when facing difficulties. I also learned that I can help others, not just my relatives, through acts of kindness and support.
A surprising and joyful moment for me happened on Christmas Day. My parents didn't have enough money to celebrate the holiday, and we were unable to buy new clothes as is our tradition in the Chagga culture. Christmas fell on a Sunday, but the day before, I was visiting my grandparents. When I returned home, I found a large bag filled with items I didn’t initially understand. I was shocked when my mother told me that my brother had brought Christmas gifts for us. Each of us received a new dress for church the next day. I was so surprised and happy. This experience taught me that nothing is impossible, no matter the circumstances, and that surprises can always change your mood for the better.
A significant accomplishment in my life was completing my O-level education. It was a tough four years filled with challenges, but I always held onto hope. When I received my results, I felt incredibly strong and realized that I could achieve better things than I had ever imagined. This realization helped me understand that I can change my attitude toward myself and toward others.
In terms of leadership, I had the opportunity to serve as an academic leader when I was in Form Two. I contested for the position and succeeded, which inspired my fellow students. I showed them that they too could lead others with confidence and hard work. This experience gave me the courage to continue being a confident leader and motivated my peers to take on leadership roles as well.
