Mucksin Mbale
My name is Mucksin Hamis Salum. I am 14 years old and live on Frelimo Street with both of my parents. I want to become an optician to help people in my community with eye problems. I was inspired to pursue this career by a friend who lost his sight due to not getting treatment in time. He faced discrimination from other students because of his condition, and I want to make a difference for others in similar situations.
To achieve my dream, I promise to focus on my studies and seek help from my teachers and classmates when I struggle with complex subjects.
One of the most challenging moments in my life was when my father couldn't afford to buy my school supplies. My mother had to borrow money but couldn't pay it back on time, so the lender took some of our household items. I felt very proud when I received an A on my Standard 7 national exam.
Once I achieve my dream, I plan to support my family financially and assist people suffering from eye diseases. I also want to help other students in need so they can reach their dreams, including volunteering at the TSFTZ office.

Here’s something new about medical profession that i would like to share with you
The Hidden Power of Sleep in Healthcare

In the fast-paced world of healthcare, sleep is often underestimated—both by patients and healthcare professionals. While medicines, surgeries, and technologies take center stage, sleep quietly plays a critical role in healing, immunity, and mental well-being.

Research has shown that proper sleep enhances wound healing, improves immune response, and helps regulate vital hormones. For patients in hospitals, disrupted sleep patterns can delay recovery, increase stress, and even raise the risk of complications. For healthcare workers, lack of sleep leads to burnout, reduced focus, and higher chances of medical errors.

Yet, sleep is free, natural, and universally available.

Simple interventions like dimming hospital lights at night, reducing noise levels, and educating patients and staff about sleep hygiene can make a huge difference. Encouraging short naps for healthcare workers during long shifts can also boost alertness and performance.

As we continue to innovate in medicine, we must not forget that sometimes, the most powerful healing tool is rest. Sleep is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. It’s time we gave it the attention it deserves in our healthcare systems.
