My grandfather died of a heart attack when I was young, in grade 2. This inspired me early on in life to pursue a career in nursing because through proper healthcare the signs leading to the heart attack and eventual death would have been detected a little earlier, he would have received treatment and prevented his sudden death.
The most difficult experience I had was witnessing continuous fights between my parents. My father tends to be violent at times and he directs the violence to my mother. This has taught me to have empathy toward those who suffer in silence and embrace peace. I will use this empathy and peace with my patients as a nurse in the future to provide a safe haven for them.
A moment when I felt especially proud of myself was my most recent results of the Kenya Certificate of Junior School Education Assessment Results. I was so happy after I received my results because I had performed very well. Through these results I can truly attest that hardwork pays. I took time and utilized the minimal resources I had and eventually I was able to attain good marks.
The most memorable and happiest thing in my life was when my Aunt picked me from my home and brought me to stay with her so that I could study in Nairobi. I was very happy because I know I would go to a good school that will eventually enable me to pursue my dream career in nursing.
My dream is to become a registered nurse. As a nurse I will be able to provide the necessary care to all without discrimination especially those in my hometown Mitini. Now that I have completed my KJSEA and have attained good marks I will work hard as I transit to Senior school. Compete Senior School, attain high marks and proceed to a reputable university where I will continue to pursue Nursing.
After I reach my dream, I would Give back to appreciate all who supported me to achieve those who enabled me to become a nurse. I will provide medical advice and care to my neighbors back home through the hospitals around. Mentoring other young girls within my community and U-Tena Organization who might not know how to go about in pursuing their dreams.
I believe corruption is the root cause to most of the unending problems in Kenya. It is corruption that has led to unequal distribution of resources, education and healthcare. If I had the power, I would engage in implementing laws and regulations that would help to put an end to corruption once and for all.
